Which tumors can be treated by HDR (high-dose-rate) brachytherapy?
Mainly skin tumors, oral and mammary tumors are suitable for brachytherapy, but it can as well be used in deep sarcomas or even bone tumors. Brachytherapy is extremly efficient in difficultly treatable tumors such as the equine sarcoid, the fibrosarcoma in the cat and oral tumors in all species. Generally brachytherapy is very efficient in localised tumors, which are not adapted for surgical removal as in joint regions or on the head.
